Durban filmfest hosting ‘The Rain Falls Where It Will’

The Durban Int’l Film Festival in South Africa is screening Iranian feature ‘The Rain Falls Where It Will’.

Iranian feature ‘The Rain Falls Where It Will’ has been competing at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) in South Africa.

Written, produced and directed by Majid Barzegar, the 86-minute movie is vying at the feature film competition section of the 2021 edition of the South African event.

In ‘The Rain Falls Where It Will’, Sara works as an experienced and respected nurse in one of the busiest hospitals in Tehran, where she quietly takes away the lives of her patients who have lost all hope in recovery.

All seems to go well for her until she is asked to take care of a private patient in his villa by the sea.

The cast list of the film includes Nazanin Ahmadi, Alireza Sanifar, Arshia Nikbin, Hamid-Reza Maleki, and Mazdak Mirabedini.

‘The Rain Falls Where It Will’ won the Best Actress award (Ahmadi) at the 38th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Launched in 1979, the DIFF is an annual film festival that takes place in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa. It is one of the oldest and largest film festivals in Southern Africa which presents more than 200 screenings celebrating the best in South African, African and international cinema.

The festival also offers filmmaker workshops, industry seminars, discussion forums, and outreach activities that include screenings in township areas where cinemas are non-existent, and much more, including Talent Campus Durban and a Durban FilmMart co-production market.

This year’s edition of the event has been scheduled for July 22–August 1, 2021.
